Ephesians Chapter 4
Paul a prisoner in service to God urges us to live and lead a life worthy of the calling we received. We can only fulfill this by;
1)Being humble and gentle
2)Being patient with each other
3)Making allowance for each other’s faults because of our love for one another.
4)Making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
We have been called to one glorious hope for the future because we are of one body and one-spirit, meaning bound to one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and father who is over all and in all and living through all.
“We have been called to one glorious hope for the future because we are of one body and one-spirit.”
God has given each of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. This is shown by the main five- fold ministry- he gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelist, teacher and pastors.
Their role and purpose is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, to a point of unity in faith and knowledge of God’s son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
Having attained the above, we will be strong not to be tossed around by any form of wrong teachings and doctrines. We will not be easily tricked with lies even if they sound so clever. But instead we will speak the truth in love growing in every way more and more like Christ.
For the perfect functioning of every part of the body of Christ, Jesus fits it together perfectly that we may be healthy and grow and be full of love.
Paul instructs us that since we are of his family we should no longer live as the gentiles do. They are characterized by the following;
2)Their minds are darkened.
3)Closed their minds and hardened their hearts against God therefore they wander far from the life God gives.
4)Have no sense of shame.
5)Live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
But since we have heard about Christ we need to;
1)Throw off our old sinful nature and the former way of life which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires.
2)Be made new in the attitude of your minds.
3)Put on the new self- created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness
4)Put off falsehood and speak truthfully to our neighbors
5)In our age we should not sin.
6)Not allow any unwholesome talk come out of our mouths but only that which is helpful for building others according to their needs that they may benefit our listeners.
7)Get rid of all bitterness rage, anger, brawling, slander, every form of malice
8)Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ forgave us.
“Get rid of all bitterness rage, anger, brawling, slander, every form of malice.”
